Floyd Jay Ponder
Floyd Jay Ponder, 68, died on June 16, 2022, at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, Alabama, where he was held. He was found unresponsive in the prison infirmary, where he had been receiving treatment for a serious natural illness. Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates attributed the death to natural causes, and his office publicly asked for help locating Mr. Ponder's family, as his mother had died in 2012 and he may have four living sisters.
