Fielding Waller
Fielding Waller was held in the jail at Winchester, Kentucky, when a band that the Kentucky Gazette called the Ku-Klux took him from it. The Gazette reported in February 1870 that he was hanged, or was supposed to have been. The paper's editor wrote that the Governor of Ohio had surrendered Waller under an implied promise of a fair trial. The editor called the hanging deeply regrettable.
