F. D. McLand
F. D. McLand was held at the jail in Benton, Louisiana, together with Frank Smith. On June 19, 1901, a mob of about 200 armed men overpowered the sheriff and jailer, took the keys, and removed McLand from the jail. They hanged him from a tree on the Arkansas road about a mile and a half away, alongside Smith. The Daily Public Ledger reported that he was silent as he was hanged and that he denied any part in the killing, a claim that could not be checked against any other account here. No other sources for his death were available.
