Evan Smith, 39, died on July 4, 2023, while held at SCI Benner Township in Centre County, Pennsylvania. According to a Pennsylvania Department of Corrections press release, he was found unresponsive in his cell that Tuesday, and he was pronounced dead at Mount Nittany Medical Center shortly before 2:30 a.m. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating, and the Centre County Coroner's Office will determine the cause of death.
