Eugene Story was hanged on June 2, 1891, at Lexington, Mississippi, after being brought from the state penitentiary under an escort of deputies, according to The Butler Weekly Times. The paper reported that friends of his had declared an intention to rescue him, but a strong armed guard prevented any disturbance. The account states that his neck was broken by the drop of the gallows. It also says he made no confession.
