Erik Bodie
Erik Adam Bodie, 41, was a self-employed business owner from Martinez, Georgia. A woman who wrote on Facebook said he had lost his sister to suicide the year before and that his life had gone downhill from there. He was found dead in his cell at the Columbia County Jail; the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said he hanged himself from the top bunk with string from a laundry bag and had made no suicidal statements, and that no foul play is suspected. An autopsy was scheduled, and the sources give different dates for his death, late February or early March 2023.
