Erie Moore Sr.
Erie Moore Sr., a 57-year-old mill worker and father of three, died in November 2015 after being held at Richwood Correctional Center in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. His family's federal lawsuit says guards used repeated force on him, including pepper spray, strikes and body-slams, and that he was left motionless on the floor. The Ouachita Parish coroner ruled the death a homicide due to head injuries, and in October 2025 a federal jury found the facility's operator, LaSalle Management Company, and three employees liable and awarded the family $42.75 million. The defendants argued that he was not compliant and that it was unclear when the fatal injury occurred.
