Erick Jones
Erick Jones, 23, died after he was held at the Shelby County Jail at 201 Poplar in Memphis on October 6, 2026. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said he was found injured in a cell after deputies responded to a disturbance, and that a cellmate stabbed him. Jail staff were said to have given him medical care before Memphis Fire Department took him to Regional One Health, where he was pronounced dead. The Sheriff's Office has opened a homicide investigation, and what led to the stabbing has not been disclosed.
