Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubias
Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubias lived in Dallas for decades, where he worked as a painting contractor on apartments and townhomes, and he was building a house in Mexico so he could eventually return. He was held at the Rio Grande Processing Center in Laredo, Texas, where staff found him unresponsive in his cell during a security check on the morning of October 17, 2026. His family says he had a heart condition, diabetes and high blood pressure, and that he raised concerns about breathing and chest tightness, which they say staff dismissed. The Webb County Medical Examiner is conducting the autopsy, and the agency and company that run the facility had not responded to requests for comment. His daughter said the family is devastated.
