Elmer D. Bruner
Elmer D. Bruner was executed by electrocution at the West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville on April 3, 1959, the last execution carried out in the state. Executions at that time were carried out privately within the penitentiary. His execution had been delayed for about two years by appeals to state and federal courts. The West Virginia Archives and History list records the execution as carried out by the penitentiary.
