Executed
Ellis Craft
A dispatch from Grayson, Kentucky, printed in the Narragansett Herald in October 1883, reports that Ellis Craft was hanged there in the early afternoon. The dispatch says he declared his innocence from the scaffold. His account of his innocence, as the dispatch gives it, is the only objection to his death in the record.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. The Grayson dispatch says he declared his innocence from the scaffold.
