Eleazar Oceguera
Eleazar Oceguera, 45, died on November 9, 2025, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Officers were called to a home and to a disturbance near South 54th and Meredeth Streets, where sources say he was in a mental health crisis. After he was handcuffed, searched and placed in a patrol car, he shot himself with a handgun that had not been found in the search, and he died at the hospital. The Lincoln Police Department said the officers followed policy but that the gun was missed, and it described the death as a suicide, with an internal investigation reviewing how the gun was missed.
