Elazer Black
Elazer Black was 25 years old when he died on May 31, 2020, at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad, Monterey County, California. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said he was stabbed in the chest by other people held in a housing unit, and that officers found him with stab wounds. According to prison officials, officers used chemical agents to stop the attack and recover homemade weapons. Prison officials are investigating his death as a homicide and said four people held there were moved to administrative segregation while the investigation continues.
