Edwin Wells
Edwin Wells, 29, came from Autauga County, Alabama. He died in October 2020 at Easterling Correctional Facility in Clio after he was reportedly stabbed in a dormitory there. According to reports gathered by the Equal Justice Initiative, no officers were present in the dormitory when he was attacked. His was the second killing in an Alabama prison in less than two weeks, a toll that advocates pointed to as evidence of dangerously understaffed facilities.
