Edrick Young
Edrick Young died in September 2025 at Westville Correctional Center in LaPorte County, Indiana, a state prison. According to LaPorte County Prosecutor Sean Fagan and Indiana State Police, he was stabbed in the chest with a homemade knife during an encounter with another prisoner, and a nail tip pierced his heart. Court documents say he and the other man had been friends before a dispute over a lighter. He collapsed, was taken back to his cell, and was later found by staff, then taken to hospitals in South Bend, where he died about five hours after the stabbing. Prosecutors say the evidence shows no intent to kill and that the death resulted from reckless acts.
