Edgar Elton

Dozier School for Boys, Jackson County, Florida

Edgar Elton was a student at the Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys in Marianna, Florida, and he had asthma. According to his friend Jerry Cooper, Elton stopped breathing during football practice a few feet from him, and Cooper says Elton had told him instructors made him practice even though a doctor's note barred him from playing. Cooper, who was his friend, still remembers him and hopes an excavation may find his remains.

Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness (neglect alleged). Jerry Cooper says Elton had asthma and that instructors made him practice football despite a doctor's note barring him from playing.

Reported by: Jerry Cooper (witnesses).
