Eddie Wayne Davis

45 years old · died July 10, 2014 · Florida State Prison, Bradford County, Florida

Eddie Wayne Davis, 45, was executed by lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke on July 10, 2014, and the Department of Corrections pronounced him dead at 6:43 p.m. His lawyers argued that a medical condition could make the state's lethal-injection process unconstitutional in his case and that the drugs would cause him unbearable pain. The Florida Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court rejected those appeals. Witnesses said he muttered prayers during the process and showed no outward signs of pain, according to WUSF, which reported it was the seventh execution in Florida that year.

Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. His lawyers argued a medical condition could make the lethal-injection process unconstitutional in his case, and the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his last appeal, which argued the drugs would cause unbearable pain.
