Ed Brock
Ed Brock, also written as Ed Lewis in the OCR text of the 1905 report, was held in the Hattiesburg city jail in Mississippi. On the night of August 4, 1905, a mob took him from the jail and hanged him from a bridge in the glare of an electric light, according to the Mobile Register report. The report says he fought and cursed the mob, though that account comes from that single source. It does not state whether jail officers resisted the mob or handed over the keys.
