Earnest Lee Hargon
Earnest Lee Hargon, 46, was held at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman, in the maximum security unit, when he was stabbed to death in late August 2007. Corrections Commissioner Chris Epps said another man held there attacked him with a homemade knife while he was cleaning a tier, and Sunflower County Coroner Douglas Card reported 30 stab wounds. One report said the other man had broken out of his cell, and that Hargon was the third person to die in the same housing unit since the previous June. In October 2008 a Sunflower County jury found the other man guilty of killing him.
