Dustin Payne
Dustin Payne, 38, was held at Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina, when he was found collapsed in a common area of a housing unit on April 11, 2024. The state Department of Corrections said he had been assaulted by another prisoner, and that staff gave emergency care before a physician pronounced him dead shortly after 8:30 p.m. State Capitol Police are investigating, and the Department of Adult Correction said it will conduct an internal review.
