Dustin Belast Pleasant
Dustin Belast Pleasant, 26, died on December 7, 2012, while held at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, in the R.E. Barrow Treatment Center. Prison officials said he was found alone in his cell with a blanket around his neck and that the death was a suicide by hanging. Calcasieu Parish District Attorney John DeRosier and Louisiana Department of Corrections spokesperson Pam Laborde were the sources of these claims. The Department of Corrections said a review team would examine the incident.
Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide. Louisiana Department of Corrections spokesperson Pam Laborde said Pleasant hanged himself with a blanket and that security staff cut him down and began CPR, and Calcasieu Parish District Attorney John DeRosier also gave a suicide account.
