Dustin Beechner
Dustin Beechner, 37, died in September 2022 after being found with self-inflicted injuries at the Buchanan County jail in St. Joseph, Missouri, where he was being held. According to the sheriff's office, he had been cleared from suicide watch and was housed in protective custody at the time. The sheriff's office said jail staff gave him emergency treatment before he was taken to a hospital, where he died. The sheriff's office said the death is under investigation and the body was sent to Jackson County for autopsy. The sheriff's account that the injuries were self-inflicted has not been independently established.
