Doyle Lee Hamm

64 years old · died November 28, 2021 · Holman Correctional Facility, Escambia County, Alabama

Doyle Lee Hamm died on November 28, 2021, at Holman Prison in Alabama, where he was held on death row, at age 64. His longtime attorney, Bernard Harcourt, described him as generous and forgiving, someone who stayed positive even in the most dire circumstances, and said he had suffered from an aggressive lymphatic cancer for years. The Alabama Department of Corrections said he apparently died of complications from a terminal illness, that no foul play was suspected, and that an autopsy would determine the exact cause. In 2018, his lethal injection was called off when staff could not find a suitable vein, and he remained on death row afterward.
