Douglas Michael Stroupe
Douglas Michael Stroupe, 33, was held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility in North Carolina, where he was found unresponsive in his cell on the afternoon of Monday, August 24, 2026. He was taken to Mission Hospital and pronounced dead the following day. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said it notified the State Bureau of Investigation, the district attorney's office and his family, and that the SBI will conduct an independent review of the circumstances of his death.
