Douglas Jay Gunter
Douglas Jay Gunter, 64, was held at the Sebastian County Detention Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in March 2019. He was found on the floor of his cell after having trouble breathing and was taken to Baptist Health Regional Medical Center, where he died on March 9. The Arkansas State Crime Lab autopsy found a rare form of bacterial pneumonia linked to a rib fracture, but could not determine when the injury occurred and listed the cause of death as undetermined. Arkansas State Police investigated, and no criminal charges were filed.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined. The Arkansas State Crime Lab autopsy listed the cause as multi-focal necrotizing bronchopneumonia and the manner as undetermined, and prosecutor Daniel Shue said no criminal charges would be filed.
