Dorothy Barlett
Dorothy Barlett was 85 when she died on February 26, 2016, while held at SCI Cambridge Springs, a state prison in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Department of Corrections records, as compiled by the UCLA Law Behind Bars Data Project, list her death as natural, caused by a ruptured aortic aneurysm. A Meadville Tribune article published in September 2019 reports that a person held at the Crawford County Correctional Facility died by suicide by hanging in March 2016, and had not been on suicide watch. The two accounts differ on the facility, the date and the cause of death.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections says a ruptured aortic aneurysm caused her death.
