Dooley Morton
Dooley Morton, a 17-year-old Black person, was in the custody of three deputies who were transporting them to Aberdeen, Mississippi, for safekeeping. Near Columbus, a mob of white men took Dooley and another Black person from the deputies. The mob drove them back through Columbus toward Alabama, then took them down a side road and hanged them from a tree.
