Donnie Hay was from Opp. He was taken to the Covington County Jail on the evening of December 29, 2019, and early the next morning he was found unresponsive, alone in a holding cell, during a routine check, and was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office said it did not suspect foul play; an autopsy was ordered and the state bureau of investigation reviewed his death.
