Donnell Larry Candya

Donnell L. Candya, 21, died on December 2, 2015, at Palmetto Health Richland hospital while in the custody of the South Carolina Department of Corrections, and was held at Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said an autopsy found head injuries "not due to a fall." The final ruling on the cause and manner of death is pending an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division and state corrections officials. A records project, Incarceration Transparency, lists the manner of death as homicide.
