Donald W. Maier, 62, died on February 22, 2024, while held at Waupun Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin, according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. The Dodge County Sheriff's Office and the county medical examiner investigated the death. The medical examiner had not determined the cause of death as of the April 2024 reporting. A June 2024 announcement from the Dodge County Sheriff's Department described investigations into four deaths at the prison, including this one, as concluded.
