Donald Hutson
Donald Hutson was held at Missouri Eastern Correctional Center in Pacific, Missouri, when he died in September 2018. His daughter, Destini Hutson, remembers plans for him to come home, including learning to use an iPhone, finding a job and going to Chick-fil-A together, and she keeps his letters and photographs. Toxicology reports from the St. Louis County Medical Examiner found synthetic cannabinoids, K2 or spice, and the medical examiner ruled the death an accident from acute synthetic cannabinoid toxicity. An internal Department of Corrections investigation reported that officers restrained him face-down on a medical backboard for an extended period while he was overdosing, and his family believes staff actions contributed to his death.
