Dominique Griffin, 29, was held at the Hinds County Detention Center in Mississippi when, authorities said, he was assaulted there on December 6, 2018. He was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and died the following day. Authorities said he had also been injured the night of an earlier shooting in Jackson.
