Dinwoodie Bill Reno

died December 12, 1868 · Floyd County Jail, Floyd County, Indiana

Dinwoodie Bill Reno was held in the New Albany jail in Indiana. According to a newspaper account published December 17, 1868, a mob of masked men from Seymour entered the jail early on Saturday, December 12, took the keys from the sheriff, and removed two men from their cells, and the account says Reno was one of them. The account says the men were hanged from an iron railing around the cells, and that the mob left the jail locked and gave the keys to a county commissioner. The account was partly garbled in the scanned text, so some details, including the names, are uncertain.
