Dillon Bakke
Dillon Dean Bakke, 37, was a graphic designer and caregiver at a long-term care facility, and his mother, Teresa Schnell, has said he struggled but did nothing wrong at the jail to deserve what happened to him. He was held at the Ramsey County jail in August 2022 and was found unresponsive in his cell, then taken to Regions Hospital. He never regained consciousness and died there on August 27, 2022, of complications of a brain bleed, according to the family's federal lawsuit. The lawsuit says he had severe hemophilia and neurological symptoms that staff did not treat for about 30 hours, and Ramsey County agreed to pay $3.6 million to settle; the county says staff notified medical personnel several times, and the sheriff's office says medical care is run by the county's public health department.
