Dick

Dick was Black and was held in the Gallatin jail in Tennessee in December 1856. According to the Nashville Union and American, a crowd of citizens came to the jail on December 20, 1856, and the jailer refused to hand over the keys. The crowd broke the jail doors down, took Dick out of custody and hanged Dick.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A crowd of citizens broke into the Gallatin jail, took Dick from custody and hanged him.
