Dick

Dick, a Black man, was taken from the jail to a place of execution and hanged on a gallows, according to a newspaper account reprinted in The Liberator in August 1831. The account says the execution was carried out with religious ceremony before a large crowd. It is an execution by the state, carried out after a sentence.
