Devon Stutesman
Devon Malechi Stutesman was an organ donor, and his kidneys, heart, lungs and liver went to people waiting for transplants. He had regular video visits with his daughter and talked with his mother about his plans for the future. The Kansas Department of Corrections said staff found him unresponsive in his cell at Hutchinson Correctional Facility on Saturday, March 1, 2025, and that he died at a hospital on Monday, March 3. His mother says the family was not told for about 22 hours, that guards kept him handcuffed to his hospital bed, and that family visits were limited. The cause of death is pending an independent autopsy, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
