Devon Prado
Devon Prado was a 28-year-old mother who lived with bipolar disorder, anxiety and drug addiction, according to a lawsuit filed by her father, David Prado, of Taunton. She was found hanging in segregation in September 2014, about a week after she was first held in a Massachusetts jail. Her father's lawsuit against Bristol County and state officials says they failed to protect her from self-harm, and that claim has not been decided in court. The suit is the family's account of her death, and the facts it alleges are disputed by no official source cited here.
Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide (disputed; neglect alleged). Her father, David Prado, says in a lawsuit that officials failed to protect her from self-harm despite her known bipolar disorder, anxiety and addiction, so the official suicide account is contested.
Reported by: David Prado, her father, in a lawsuit (family or their lawyers).
