Devin Edwards
Devin Edwards, 36, was found in his cell at Hancock State Prison early on a Friday morning, October 30, 2026, and taken to a hospital in Washington County, where he was pronounced dead. Hancock County Coroner Dontrelle Andrews said Edwards appeared to have recently been involved in a fight. The death came a day after the Georgia Department of Corrections placed more than 25 state prisons on lockdown over security threat group activity, which it linked to an earlier altercation at Hays State Prison.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined. Hancock County Coroner Dontrelle Andrews said Edwards appeared to have been recently involved in a fight, but the cause of death has not been reported.
