Destiny Ortega, 32, died on December 29, 2021, while held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Los Angeles County. According to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department internal memo, she was found on the floor of her shared cell with cuts and bruising, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The department's homicide bureau is investigating, and as of the report the county coroner had not determined a cause or manner of death.
