Desiree Rentz
Desiree Rentz, 33, of St. Petersburg, died at the Pinellas County Jail on August 26, 2026, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Her attorney told the court she was confined to a wheelchair and could not leave home without one. The sheriff's office said deputies found her in her cell shortly before 5:30 a.m. and that she was pronounced dead at 6:03 a.m. after paramedics arrived. The sheriff's office said detectives have found no evidence that injuries sustained in the jail contributed to her death and noted she had preexisting medical conditions.
