Derrick Smalls
Derrick Smalls was a family man from Memphis and the father of four, whom his wife, Shequita Smalls, called "our provider" and "our strength." He was held at the Shelby County Jail, and after he became unresponsive on May 30 he was taken to a hospital, where he developed brain and kidney complications and died on June 10, 2024. Hospital records list multi-organ failure as the cause of death and show no injuries to his head, neck, face or body. His family wants answers about how he died, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has joined the investigation.
