Derrick Geter
Derrick Geter, 33, died in May 2022 while held at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. A medical emergency was called in the infirmary where he was housed, and paramedics took him to Atrium Health Main, where he was pronounced dead. Mecklenburg County deputies described the death as an apparent suicide, and the medical examiner will determine the cause. Sheriff Garry McFadden said the loss was difficult and sent condolences to Mr. Geter's mother and loved ones, and the State Bureau of Investigation will conduct the investigation.
