Derrick Dennis
Derrick Dennis, 34, was held at Elmore Correctional Facility in Elmore County, Alabama. According to the Alabama Department of Corrections, he was injured in an altercation with another person held at the prison and was taken to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, where he died on October 15, 2013. The department said the death is under investigation and that an autopsy would be performed to determine the cause of death. The Equal Justice Initiative said it would also investigate the death.
