Derek Meyer
Derek Meyer, 28, was held at the Athens-Clarke County Jail in Athens, Georgia. According to the Clarke County Sheriff's Office, he was found unresponsive in his cell on July 29, 2018, and jail staff and medical personnel treated him until emergency medical services arrived. He was taken to a hospital on life support and died there on July 31, 2018. The Clarke County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the death, and the cause and manner have not been determined.
