Denzell Rhine, 28, was held at the Shelby County Jail in Alabama after being booked there in July 2021. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said he had a medical emergency around 6 p.m. and was taken to a hospital, where he died. Records differ on the date of death, with one entry giving July 18 and another July 19. The sheriff's office said the cause is pending an autopsy, and a multi-agency task force is investigating.
