Dennis Shaner
Dennis Shaner, 50, died on May 24, 2018, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in a transport van near the Greene County Jail in Springfield, Missouri. The van was run by Inmate Services Corporation and was taking him toward the Taney County Jail. Greene County officials said he was not held at their jail and that he reached an unsecured handgun after being let out of the van. How long he had been traveling and how many others were in the van has not been established.
Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide. Greene County officials said he shot himself in the head with a handgun he reached after being let out of a transport van.
