Dennis F. Schapmire, 43, of Ozark, Illinois, was found dead in his cell at the Massac County Jail on the morning of Wednesday, July 5, 2023, according to local reports. Jail staff were said to have found him around 9:14 a.m. The Massac County Sheriff's Department asked the Illinois State Police to investigate, and an autopsy was performed.
