Dennis Dilda

Dennis Dilda was executed by hanging on a scaffold outside Prescott, Arizona, on February 5, 1886, after being taken from the town jail under guard by two local military companies. The Sacramento Daily Record-Union and the Daily Tombstone Epitaph report that he ate a hearty breakfast, had his photograph taken at his request, and bowed pleasantly to acquaintances on the way to the scaffold, with about a thousand people watching. The Tombstone Epitaph account says he refused to see a minister or priest, and the Arizona Silver Belt reports that his neck was broken by the fall through the trap. The accounts give different times for the trap being sprung, between 12:03 and 12:16 p.m.
