Demetris Lewis
Demetris Lewis, 30, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, was injured in an assault by other people held at the Ben Hill County Jail on December 17, 2020. He was taken to a hospital and then flown to Navicent Health in Macon, where he died on December 19, 2020. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation classified his death as a homicide. Its inquiry led to charges against two other people held at the jail, and the case has been referred for prosecution.
